The PREMIER Roster has always touted a wide array of Athletes. From heavyweights to cruiserweights and everything in between, the best and brightest have always had the opportunity to shine. In 2014, two of the most agile PREMIER Athletes squared off in a bout that nearly claimed Match of the Year. On Saturday, September 19th, “El Pistolero” Julio Pedroza (3-3) and Marcus Lewis (4-4) return to Del Mar High School once again with a winning record on the line.“El Pistolero” Julio Pedroza last saw PREMIER action earlier this year against “The Golden Boy” Dylan Drake (4-4). In the March match, Pedroza would use his speed and agility to battle the technique and experience of his opponent. Unfortunately, all the quickness in the world was not enough to counter the cunning and guile of Dylan Drake. Getting caught in a roll-up pin, the loss would move Julio’s record to 3-3 and one step further from a future title shot. Now in order to return to the winning column, he must defeat a man who already holds a victory over him.
Marcus Lewis has had an incredible career for an Athlete of his size and youth. A former number one contender and one of the fastest rising stars at PREMIER, two losses in a row has slowed his progress. Lewis has often had trouble in matches against veterans and his defeat at the hands of Timothy Thatcher (3-2-1) in June was no difference. Though he nearly survived a 15-minute time limit, Marcus was forced to submit to an armbar with less than nine seconds left on the clock. A win over a former foe could mean bright things for Lewis’ future, but a loss could be equally as disastrous.
Live at Del Mar High School on Saturday, September 19th, “El Pistolero” Julio Pedroza and Marcus Lewis return to action with a step above .500 in their sights.
