From the PREMIER President and Matchmaker John LaRocca,

On March 25th, I announced that in a few weeks we would make a decision on who would be next to challenge for the Premier Heavyweight Championship held currently by “The God Of War” JR Kratos (6-2). After our March 20th event in San Jose, “Mr. Athletic” Jeff Cobb with a Premier Record of 5-2-1 is at top of the Premier Top 10 Rankings. As PREMIER IX event is set for Sunday, June 7th in Gilroy, I was informed by Mr. Cobb that the June 7th date could be conflicted with a Lucha Underground Television Taping.

In late 2014, Jeff Cobb signed a contract with the exciting young promotion Lucha Underground that appears every Wednesday night on the El Rey Network. As a contracted talent, Jeff Cobb must make Lucha Underground his priority. Mr. Cobb informed me that June 7th was a “tentative” date, but he would confirm at the next Lucha Underground TV Tapings in Los Angelas on April 11th and 12th if that date is still a go for Lucha Undergroudn or not. This past Sunday night, Mr. Cobb called me and informed me that the TV tapings for Lucha Underground are a go on June 7th and he would be unable to compete for the Premier championship.

With Jeff Cobb unable to make the June 7th date do his Lucha Underground commitments, the number two contender in the Premier Top 10 Rankings, “The Golden Boy” Dylan Drake (4-3) will recieve the next shot for the Premier Heavyweight Championship on June 7th in Gilroy. Dylan Drake and the champion JR Kratos already have history in Premier. At our very first Premier event on March 24th, 2013, it was JR Kratos (subbing for an injured Timothy Thatcher) defeated Dylan Drake in the opening round of the Premier Heavyweight Championship Tournament. “The Golden Boy” has always complained that he trained for Timothy Thatcher and that the last minute substituion in Kratos threw him off his game. For two years Dylan Drake has been wanting to get his revenge on JR Kratos. Not only does he have a chance to gain revenge for his loss to Kratos two years ago, but that revenge can be sweeter by taking the Premier Heavyweight Championship from “The God Of War”.

Jeff Cobb is still officially the number one contender and will recieve the next title between the winner of JR Kratos and Dylan Drake.

We hope to see you at PREMIER IX: Kratos vs Drake!
